From the mouth of babes
So Michael has said a few words, at least I think so, I am pretty sure. The "first word" moment is as anti climatic as his first steps. There is never really that one moment; it is a combination of small advances. So I believe his first word was duck. We have one book with a page of ducks on it and every time we get to just that page he starts saying "da, da, da". His next word was "boo" as in peek-a-boo. He started saying this when we were reading a peek-a-boo book. He would lift up the flaps and say "boo". I tried to get it on camera this morning, but he became more interested in the camera than the book. His newest one I think is bye bye. We have been practicing saying bye bye and waving FOREVER. Then yesterday a country song came on the radio with the singer singing "bye bye" and he started waving saying bye bye. So no mama or dada, but duck, boo and bye bye do just fine. I am just glad that his kid got some smarts. We thought he was going to be just a meat-head football player that eats live goldfish to get a few laughs.
Intruder
So at 5:05 this morning I heard 3 quiet knocks on our front door. I was deep in sleep, so was not quite sure if I had really heard them, but it was enough to wake me up. Chad was in the shower so I decided to go see who would be knocking on our door so early in the morning. Through our peep hole I saw a dark, shadowed figure standing to the far right of our door. I could not make out the image that well. So I studied it a bit more, and noticed his hands move. So I knew it was a person. I tried viewing upwards through our dusty peep hole to make out a face, when I saw what looked like a fact gazing towards the peep hole. Sufficiently freaked out I jumped away from the door and got Chad. He put on some shorts and grabbed a large PVC pipe he keeps under our bed. He was ready to just open the door and see who was waiting in the shadows. I persuaded him to not get us all killed by just opening the door and trying to see who it was from a different angle. With our faces smashed up against parallel windows, we tried to see the who it was, but were unable to see the front porch fully. We tried knocking on the door, jiggling the handle, trying to get this person to answer us. Finally, I opened the door while Chad was ready to swing at this intruder with the pipe. There was no one there. It was a shadow . I think I am going to clean the dust off our peep hole today.

Back in the game
When I met and married Chad I was relieved to have the whole dating game done and over with. Little did I know that the game had just begun. We had to make new married friends, so the whole dating process started again. Now that we have moved, we need to make new friends and thus we must date new people. We go to church, scan the room looking for a couple that seem similar to us, someone we could "ask out". We debate who is going to go over and talk to them, and eventually who is going to ask them out. Last night I spent an hour on citysearch trying to find a place for our date tonight. After the date Chad and I will analyize the other couple (what did you think about her? what about him?), and analyze how we did (did I talk to much? why didn't you tell me I had food in my teeth the whole time?). So here is to getting back in the game again, and don't even act like you don't know what I am talking about...
